Procedure Details

Following a cosmetic breast augmentation and breast lift (mastopexy) the patient developed an infection. She was treated for nearly a year with local wound care and dressing changes. She was unhappy with the repeated skin infections, the asymmetry of the breasts and the descent of the breasts. In addition, her active lifestyle was severely curtailed by the frequent dressing changes, her inability to wear the clothes she wanted, and how her breasts looked. She underwent a revision of her breast augmentation, debridement and removal of infection and scar tissue. The result is better symmetry of the breasts, proportionate areolas, and resolution of the infection. She is back to leading her active life.

This patient presented after undergoing a breast augmentation and breast lift with a non healing wound for nearly a year. She was unhappy with the asymmetry of the breasts, the enlarged areolas, the constant skin breakdown that prevented her from wearing certain clothes and swimwear due to blood staining the material. The breasts felt heavy and she felt not adequately lifted. Following a breast surgery revision that cleared out the old scar tissue, the infected areas, and a repositioning of the implants she now has a more appropriate position of the breasts.
